Members draw held over until 2018
At our last member's draw for 2017, again the member drawn was not present. Member #1441708 was not here when his number was drawn and so missed out on the $6,000.
Therefore, we have decided to hold the prize over until January 18th, when all raffles and prizes will resume.
In 2018, there will be more new promotions, including a Friday night meat tray raffle.
Wine Prize packs awarded
We ran an email promotion to encourage members to renew their membership to coincide with the RSL Rewards promotion to win a car.
There was a typo in the email, that we would hold the draw for people who renewed their memberships before 11am on Thursday, and it should have been 11am on FRIDAY.
SO, we have decided to award 2 Robert Oakley prize packs.
The winners were David N and Lesley O'B.
Unfortunately, no-one at Caulfield won the state-wide prize of the car - that went to a member at East Keilor RSL.

Enjoy a bacon & egg banjo & a cup of coffee in the 4 Court on Saturday mornings
Want a great way to kick off your Saturday?
Join us in the 4 Court for a Bacon & Egg banjo and a cup of coffee from Wild Timor Coffee Co. for only $5.
Wild Timor Coffee Co are run by a group of young veterans, who, in early 2012 were sent as part of a task force to help with the stabilisation of Timor-Leste.
After 30 years of neglect, coffee that was originally planted by the Portuguese some 200 years ago, was discovered by the peace keepers in remote villages, as they patrolled the area. The former soldiers have helped local growers harvest the coffee independently, receive a fair and equitable price for their product and support their local community.
They will set up their coffee cart in the 4 Court from 10am until noon.
Member's draw again unclaimed
Another Thursday night where the member whose number was drawn out was not present to claim their prize.
Member 1427647 will be upset to learn that she has missed out on $5,500, but it means that NEXT week, we're hitting $5,750.
Make sure you're here if you want to win!
Member's Draw continues to rise
On Thursday 30th November, our member's draw didn't go off again. Member number# 1287343 wasn't present, so the prize pool jackpots to $5,500 next week.
There were a few technical glitches with the state-wide RSL draw for $20,000 which were beyond our control. The network was inundated with people swiping their cards between 4 and 7 pm, causing outages and some frustration. Apologies to anyone who was inconvenienced, however it was beyond CRSL's control. The money was won by a member of the Bendigo RSL.
The bonus $500 was won by Bob Larkin.
Announcement regarding the Flying Saucer Club
The following announcement has just been released by The Flying Saucer Club.
"After recently celebrating our 5th birthday in August of this year, it is with great sadness that we announce that The Flying Saucer Club will not be continuing to operate at The Caulfield RSL in 2018. Unfortunately, we have come to a point where we have outgrown the ageing RSL Dining Room with its limited capacity and are needing to find a new home.
After 5 and half years of hard work, we are all due for a well-earned break and will be taking a short holiday at the beginning of 2018. If anyone is aware of a suitable room that could become Flying Saucer’s new home, please email info@flyingsaucerclub.com.au.
New Year’s Eve will be our final show at the RSL and thus a massive farewell party! Come and support your local live music venue one last time.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Caulfield RSL, the Committee, Management and Staff for all of their support over the years, especially those that were prepared to take a risk with the Flying Saucer in the first place. Thank you also all the amazing artists who have graced our stage over the journey. Most of all, we would like to thank you, the music lovers, our supporters, we couldn't do it without you!" Mark, Theresa, Sam and The Flying Saucer Club Team.
Caulfield RSL President Colin Bradley responded "It has been a pleasure having The Flying Saucer Club and all the amazing bands at our Club for the last 5 years.
Their weekly shows have attracted a growing following and, unfortunately, the infrastructure in our aging building is unable to cope with any further expansion.
Mark and his team have lined up some amazing acts for the rest of the year, and I urge everyone to take the opportunity to enjoy the Flying Saucer Club at Caulfield RSL throughout the rest of November and December.
On behalf of the Committee, Management and Staff of Caulfield RSL, I wish them all the best with their future endeavours."

Our weekly member's draw has been held, however the winner wasn't present to claim their prize.
Member 1395840 wasn't in the Club on Thursday 24th to claim her prize of $1,750.
Next week the cash draw hits $2,000.
Deb Goldsmith was the worthy recipient of the 10,000 RSL Rewards points at the 8pm Second Chance Draw.
Member's draw continues
The Member's draw didn't go off last night (17/8). Member number 1162231 wasn't here last night when his number was called out, so he missed out on $1,500.
So the draw will jackpot to $1,750 next week.
A system failure with the Kiosk meant members were not able to get their tickets for the Second Chance Draw, so the draw was not held this week. Apologies, but the kiosk fault was out of our control. The Second Chance Draw returns next week.
Art exhibition comes to the Caulfield RSL

Petula - from Downtown to Broadway
“‘Petula’ is essential theatre” is how former Nine broadcaster, Tony Porter, describes Petula: From Downtown to Broadway – A Tribute.
Petula Clark is so much more than the 60’s pop princess who sang ‘Downtown’. A career spanning more than 6 decades has seen her evolve from a child star during the 40’s and 50’s and singing sensation during the 60’s to star of Stage and Screen and, now in her 80’s, a concert performer who continues to deliver with passion and skill.
“This show has been a labour of love AND respect”, says Henshaw. “And I love getting to show the audiences the number of different languages that Petula sings in”.
14 months in the creation, the whole idea began when John Michael Howson suggested that Henshaw and Conyers should tackle a show about Petula Clark. “Hilary looks just like her at a stage in her career”, said John Michael to Conyers after a performance of their previous show, ‘Funny Ladies’.
Petula – A Tribute has already done a Victorian Tour and will leave for NSW in September, so the dates at the Caulfield RSL are your last opportunity to see the show in 2017.
There are 2 shows - Monday 7th August @ midday and Monday 14th August - Doors open at 6pm, show from 7.30pm.
To find out more and to book tickets click here.

There are video, picture and audio questions, and built in sound-effects and graphics. You'll get instant feedback with the right answer shown after every question and with the excitement of real time live score updates you will feel like you are in your very own game show!
Your knowledge doesn’t have to be at genius level to succeed at QuizzaMe. Being quick on the buzzer, working as a team and the boldness to win bonus for you team could quickly see you conquer the scoreboard and finish champions!

My Brother Jack Awards
Each Year the Glen Eira Council organises and runs the ' My Brother Jack' awards, named after the award winning book by Jack Johnson written about life in Caulfield between the wars, and a fictional family living in Kooyong Road adjacent to the (then) Caulfield Military Hospital.
The book is of particular interest to this subbranch as many of the characters are based on World War I veterans, some of whom could have been members of the subbranch. Caulfield along with Bentleigh Sub Branch sponsors the prizes in the competition.
The winner this year was Anthony Carr for his short story The Mid-way Chair.
Congratulations to Anthony and all the other entrants for taking the time to compose a short story and enter the competition. A copy of the story and details of the other entrants and winners are available on the Glen Eira Council website, at the following link
